For some of you, this is my first opportunity to reach out and introduce myself. My name is Beth Martin, and I have been hired to be the new Executive Director for the OANP. It is truly my dream job, to work at a place with such an amazing history, professional track record, and enthusiasm from the community that supports it.
I come from a non-profit background in higher education, and have been working as a consultant helping holistic practitioners to grow their connections with the community through strategic planning. I have personal experience with naturopathic medicine, and I believe strongly that naturopathic medicine should be accessible to all. I am excited to bring my public relations and community engagement experience to the OANP, and to raise awareness for the profession in the state of Oregon.
It is such an honor to step into the role left by Laura Farr, who did such amazing work during her tenure with OANP. I am so lucky to be able to work with such a hard-working staff, and their excitement, dedication, and sense of fun is making it an easy transition. I am grateful to our board members, who have done a wonderful job of making me feel welcome and supported. The community of OANP is the best! I am amazed at what caring, compassionate, and driven people belong to this association.
Over the next few years, I will be working on advancing OANP’s strategic plan, which includes increasing public awareness of naturopathic doctors (NDs) and creating an obstacle free environment in which NDs can practice. I am also interested in hearing from the community about what things you would like to see, and how we can build the movement of advocates for the profession.
I hope to see you all at the OANP conference next month, and look forward to the work that we will do together.
