Carrie Baldwin-Sayre | OANP President

Every year at our annual conference, we not only say goodbye to the last year and ring in the new, we also give our thanks to outgoing board members, and welcome those new ones who are stepping into leadership roles.

OANP is so fortunate to have NDs that volunteer as board members and share time, their knowledge, provide input, and help steer the association in directions that strengthen the naturopathic profession. Our board is incredibly stable, and has a healthy balance of directors who have served multiple years, and new members that bring new ideas and energy to the association.

It is with absolute appreciation that we say thank you for the many thoughts, ideas, perspectives and countless hours of volunteer work to Drs. Sheryl Estlund (Director At-Large) and Ashley Hull (Student Representative). For Dr. Estlund, she has been part of the board of directors since 2005, serving in many different roles, including board president. We are so grateful for all of her years of service. Ashley Hull has been representing the student population at NUNM, and has served on several committees during her tenure on the board of directors, and continues to be a resource for the OANP.

We're extremely grateful to our two new incoming board members, Dr. Cory Tichauer (Director At-Large) and Emma Neiworth-Petshow (Student Rep). Dr. Tichauer practices at the Bear Creek Naturopathic Clinic in Medford, Oregon. Dr. Tichauer has primarily focused on the realm of chronic infectious illness, neurodegenerative conditions and autoimmune disease for the past 15 years of practice with an emphasis on Tick-Borne Illness such as Lyme Disease. He is a graduate of Cornell University graduating with honors with a B.A. in Neurobiology and Behavior, as well as the National College of Naturopathic Medicine where he graduated after five years of study with his doctorate in Medicine. Always striving to improve outcomes and provide the best possible care, Dr. Tichauer is very successful in helping most patients to recover their health.

Emma Neiworth-Petshow is current student at NUNM, expected to graduate this year. She is a research assistant for the Helfgott Research Institute, where she is helping with a clinical trial study looking at a combination herbal supplement and its effect on systemic inflammation and chronic knee pain in endurance runners. She has already signed up to serve on several committees on top of her board of director duties, and her excitement is infectious. She has a passion for teaching and coaching, a desire to continue to expand her knowledge base, and she strives to help others achieve their optimal health.

Please raise a toast, say a blessing, and give thanks to all these people that support the ND community, and help it to thrive.
